Have hazardous materials?

El Paso County offers a household hazardous waste program for many paints, chemicals, batteries and other restricted items. Check their accepted-item rules before visiting.

County Hazmat Program ↗

Not every excluded item is accepted at the county facility. Asbestos, ink and toner, school lab chemicals, smoke alarms, medicines, and some gas cylinders may require other approved programs. Call the facility first.

Quick heads-up: “Accepted” means we can discuss the service, not that every item or job is automatically approved. Hazardous contents, contamination, weight, access, licensing and recycling-facility rules can change what we can safely take.

Where Does Your Junk Go?

Clearing your home shouldn’t mean giving up on the environment. Our goal is to look for responsible next steps for the materials we haul, instead of treating every load like landfill trash. What happens depends on the item, its condition, and which local programs can accept it.

♡

Donate What’s Usable

Furniture, household goods and other items in good condition may have another life. When donation partners can accept them, we look for opportunities to direct reusable items toward people and organizations that can use them.

♻

Recycle What We Can

Metal appliances, suitable electronics, cardboard and other recyclable materials can sometimes be routed to appropriate processors. We check material restrictions and available facilities rather than promising every item will be recycled.

🌱

Dispose Responsibly

Some items are broken, contaminated, or unsuitable for donation or recycling. Those materials require proper disposal. Our aim is to separate opportunities for reuse and recovery from material that genuinely needs to be discarded.

Why some items are off-limits

Safety First. For Everyone.

Liquid paints, fuels, corrosive cleaners, pesticides, pressurized tanks, asbestos and other hazardous materials can injure workers, leak during transport, react with other substances, or contaminate land and water. Standard junk trucks and disposal sites are not equipped or authorized to handle every type of dangerous waste.

That’s why we keep hazardous materials separate from ordinary junk removal. Sending them through the correct collection program protects our crew, your property, recycling workers and the environment.
